 Emerald:

Emerald is a green variety of beryl, and the most precious stone in that family. It crystallizes in the structure of prismatic crystals, and can be found in a variety of tons of green.

When the Spanish came to the Americas, and Emerald Goddess called Umina dominated the city of Manta in Peru. Her image was an enormous emerald crystal, and smaller emeralds were said to be her daughters.

Emerald was also the sacred stone of the goddess Venus (Aphrodite) and worn in her honor on Fridays, her “holy day”. Even today, Emerald is considered a stone sacred to the Goddess, symbolizing the green clad earth in spring festivals.

Emerald symbolizes abundance and richness, and can be used for prosperity work and to attract wealth and financial stability to one’s life.

Since it is Aphrodite, it is also a stone of love, providing for domestic bliss, loyalty and harmony in all areas of life. It works on the heart chakra, and helps to quiet emotions.

This stone should be worn alone, it is said that other stones can diminish its power. Use emerald for strength to take positive action and accomplish your life goals and destiny, since it removes negativity and attitudes that stand on the way of personal growth.

Also called the “Revealer of Truth”, this gemstone brings awareness of the unknown to conscious recognition, helping one to access the laws or order within the universe. It can be used to enhance mental and psychic abilities, aid meditation, visualization, and to strengthen memory. 

 Fluorite:

Formally called “fluorspar”, its name comes from the Latin “to flow”. Its colors range from shades of just about every color on the rainbow!

The ancient Egyptians used it to carve statues and scarabs; the Romans believed drinking from a vessel made of Fluorite would keep the drinker from getting drunk.

In the 18th century it was powdered and mixed with water to make a popular remedy to relieve kidney disease.

Myth says that fluorite has been transported to Earth from a higher dimension J; or that it is light crystallized, and thus having the property to bring light (illumination) to the bearer.

It works on the 3rd eye chakra, and it is useful to aid in meditation, increase concentration, clear the mind, and higher mental achievement while providing evolution of harmonious and orderly spiritual growth.

Use fluorite to increase concentration and clear reasoning to aid in study and intellectual pursuits. It also allows us to see truth behind illusion, and bring stability to our lives.

As a healing stone, use to treat bones, teeth, and cell structure. It protects against ill health by eliminating negative energies that cause disease.

Fluorite is a Fairy stone! Plant it on the four corners of your garden to attract the Fairies to it!

  • Blue: order, calm, clear communication. Healing of eye, nose, throat, ear, and speech problems.
  • Chinese Fluorite: treat and protect against disease.
  • Clear: stimulates the brain, clears the aura, opens pathways between the energies of the universe and the physical body, improves sight.
  • Green: clear emotional baggage, eliminates negativity, treat digestive disorders.
  • Purple: 3rd eye chakra, psychic and spiritual growth, treat bone disease
  • Yellow: creativity, intellect, cooperation, balances cholesterol and releases toxins from the body.
  • Yttrium: increases wealth and mental activity. Stone of manifestation (make things happen).

 

 Garnet:

The official birthstone of January, said to bring new beginnings like the month it rules over. Also the stone for those born under the zodiac sign of Aquarius, garnets are most popular in the deep red-wine color, but they may be found in every color (except blue). The name garnet probably comes form a Latin word meaning “pomegranate”, because of that burgundy color.

It’s been a favorite stone of lovers for centuries, since it carries not only the property of working on the base chakra and the sexual organs, promoting fertility; but also it is a stone of passion and fidelity. If given as a gift, garnet symbolizes true and never ending love and devotion. It is also capable of raising and directing the flow of kundalini energy.

Garnet has also the property of releasing our creativity and inner fire, promoting good circulation, and increasing energy and power.

In Medieval times, it was used as a cure for depression, to protect against bad dreams, and to relieve disease of the liver and hemorrhages.

The Amazon women were said to be empowered by garnets worn on their breastplates!

 

Geode:

A geode is a sphere shaped rock, which contains a hollow cavity lined with crystals. It’s name comes from the Greek “geoides”, which means “earthlike”.

Geodes are good energy generators, and stimulate good work habits. Place a geode on your desk to increase productivity!

It stimulates independent thinking and freedom of spirit, increases psychic abilities and aids in astral travel and prophetic dreams.

It carries feminine energy and can help in childbirth, and to increase fertility.

 

 Hematite:

The name hematite comes from the root hem/o, meaning blood (same as with hemoglobin, etc). It is an ore of iron, and therefore, it can rust. When ground, hematite forms a reddish, blood color powder, and thus the name. This powdered form was used by Native Americans to produce red-ochre, which was used as face paint. Until recently, the cosmetic blush was made of ground hematite as well.

It is one on the most used gemstones of the ancient world. It was especially popular in Egypt, where it was carved into amulets of many sorts, placed in tombs and even served as inscription stone for some passages of the “Book of the Dead”. It was also used medicinally by this culture, to threat hysteria and reduce inflammation.

It has also been found in the ruins of Babylon.

The Romans believed Hematite was sacred to the god Mars, and Roman warriors wore it to battle for protection. Their belief in this stone was so powerful, they thought it made them invincible!

Ancient superstition also said that mineral deposits of hematite were formed in battlegrounds, from all the blood that flowed into the earth.

Hematite has many properties. One of the most important of those is to reflect negativity back to where it came.

It is grounding and calming, helping to reduce stress and aiding restful sleep. It assists us in creating peaceful, loving and kind relationships.

Also called “The stone of mental mastery”, it provides clarity of thought, balance, and calm reasoning. It can aid in divination (often used as a scrying tool), intuition, psychic awareness and astral travel; enhancing memory and intellect.

Hematite is also said to aid in legal matters. By wearing hematite on a court date, you can insure a favorable hearing.

 

 Hessonite:

Also known as “Cinnamon Stone”, it is a orange to red variety of Garnet.

It activates and balances the second and third chakras, and can be used as a nourishing stone any time at all. It boosts courage and faith in the self, allowing a person to seek new challenges and giving them confidence and will power to do so. Therefore, it is also a great stone to banish feelings of insecurity and inferiority.

Hessonite also stimulates the intellect and creativity, and can be used to aid travel in the etheric plane, and meditative journeys.

 

 Howlite

Natural howlite is snow-white in color, with fine gray veining. It accepts dye easily and can be dyed many different colors, what makes it a cheap substitute for turquoise, lapis, and other stones.

Use howlite to soothe communication and improve the desire to be courteous and polite, as it eliminates rudeness, anger and offensive behavior, and makes the wearer comfortable in social situations.

It can be a soothing stone when dealing with conflict, and can help procrastinators to take action.

This stone can also be used to increase appreciation for pure beauty and remove spiritual blocks. As a healing stone, it is useful when dealing with teeth or bone ailments.

 

 Iolite:

Iolite is a dichroic stone, which means that it shows two different colors, depending on how you look at it. One color is indigo, and the other is a gray, almost clear, color.

It works on the 3rd eye chakra, enhancing and encouraging shamanic visions and spiritual quests, as it gently opens, heightens, and expands psychic abilities.

Iolite can be used to harmonize emotions, and to help understand and deal with responsibilities of daily life. It also enhances curiosity and achievements.

Often called “water sapphire”, it can be used as a substitute to blue sapphire.

Use Iolite to heal the liver, and get rid of toxins.

 

 Jade:

A sacred stone to both the Chinese and Mayans, Jade has been widely used to carve sacred symbols, as it is said to “bless everything it touches”.

It emanates an energy of peace, harmony, wisdom, love, virtue, grounding, and devotion to a higher purpose. Jade is also a good luck and good fortune stone.

The Chinese especially associated Jade with occult wisdom, and it can be used as a “philosopher’s stone” to stimulate wisdom and help you achieve goals. Place a piece of jade under your pillow to induce lucid dreams.

A stone of manifestation, jade can help you realize your dreams and find your life path, while helping to understand and heal karma.

As a healing stone, Jade can be used in ailments of the kidneys, heart, larynx, liver, spleen and thyroid. It is also said to prevent sickness. Jade also promotes the healing of the Earth, compassion for animals, plants, and all living things.

 

 Jasper:

This stone is an opaque and fine grained variety of chalcedony, found in many colors, including red, brown, yellow, green, gray and shades of blue. It often contains organic material and mineral oxides, which gives it interesting patterns.

Long worn by shamans, this stone is grounding and protective, and helps to protect the body while in astral voyages.

It carries the energy of the Sun, and it is nurturing, rejuvenating and energizing. Jasper can also align the chakras and balance yin/yang energies, and drive away evil spirits.

Medicinally, it can be used to protect against snake and spider bites, ease the pain of childbirth, and promote tissue rejuvenation.

 Jet:

Jet is a variety of coal called lignite. It is rather fragile but lends itself well to carving. Examples of carved jet date back to the Paleolithic period. It was used extensively in Victorian mourning jewelry after the death of Victoria's husband, Prince Albert in 1861. Due to it's chemical composition (hydrogen, oxygen and carbon) it can be burned. The fumes it gives off were once thought to have medicinal powers, able to cure hysteria and diagnose epilepsy. In the ancient British Isles, jet was believed to protect against the work of the devil, demonic possession, and the consequences of witchcraft. It was also burned in magical ceremonies to aid in contacting the dead and foretelling the future.

Jet works in the 1st and 3rd chakras. Like Amber, it possesses talismanic virtue and has long been worn in amulet form. Amber and Jet represent the polarities of power, and are traditionally worn as ritual jewelry by the High Priestess.

Jet is grounding and balancing, and carries a negative energy charge, been able to draw power and knowledge to the wearer. In ancient times, jet amulets were said to be a part of the wearer’s body and soul, and therefore guarder with jealous care.

A good talisman for protection, jet dispels fears and protects against violence, illness and is especially useful for protection during travel.

It can stabilize finances and awaken the kundalini.

 Kunzite:

This stone is has beautiful vitreous lilac to pink color. It acts in the heart chakra and can be used to bring forth peace, love, compassion, trust and security. It also aids in communication, helping one speak from the heart. It is relaxing and grounding, strengthens self-esteem, helps to assimilate life-force energy and to be creative.

As a healing stone, use on any cardiovascular ailment.

 

 Kyanite:

Kyanite works on the throat chakra, helping with communications, telepathy and ability to heal others. It builds a bridge between two people, or between your inner and outer selves.

It is calming and stimulates psychic powers and intuition. It is also a very powerful tool for meditation, astral travel, dream work, and to connect to spiritual guides.
